JAMMU, September 26, 2026: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has stepped up efforts to control the spread of rabies and manage the stray dog population through Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) measures.
The initiative forms part of a wider scientific approach being implemented across Jammu and Kashmir to address the stray dog issue, with vaccination and sterilisation being carried out alongside improved waste management and public awareness.
JMC has also invited bids for a two-year programme covering ABC and anti-rabies vaccination of stray dogs within JMC jurisdiction and peripheral urban areas within a 25-km radius. The tender was issued on September 25, 2026.
The civic authorities have emphasised the importance of vaccination, responsible pet ownership and timely medical attention following dog bites as part of efforts to reduce rabies transmission and promote public safety.
