: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked the people of Indonesia for preserving the historic Prambanan Temple Complex, saying that shared cultural heritage continues to strengthen the bond between India and Indonesia.
Speaking during his visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Prime Minister said cultural traditions connect people across borders and generations. He praised Indonesia for preserving the centuries-old temple complex with dedication and respect.
Modi also participated in the inauguration of a joint conservation and restoration project for the Prambanan Temple Complex, which will be undertaken with assistance from India. The initiative follows the exchange of a Letter of Intent between the two countries to support the restoration of the historic site.
The Prime Minister said hearing chants of “Mahamrityunjay” and “Om Namah Shivaya” at the temple was a deeply moving experience. He expressed confidence that the conservation project would encourage more Indian tourists to visit the UNESCO heritage site.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Jakarta as part of the first leg of his three-nation tour, which also includes Australia and New Zealand. The visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, security, rare-earth minerals, and cultural ties under the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
