The Batote–Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) was blocked near Premnagar, between Doda and Kishtwar, on Monday morning after torrential rainfall triggered a landslide, disrupting traffic on the key road link.
According to officials, several vehicles were trapped under debris after mud and rocks slid onto the highway. However, no loss of life or injuries have been reported.
The heavy rainfall created unsafe conditions along the affected stretch, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend vehicular movement as a precaution to ensure public safety.
Officials said road restoration and debris clearance operations will begin once the weather improves and the affected section of the highway is declared safe for traffic.
Meanwhile, commuters have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel on NH-244 and check official traffic advisories before planning their journey.
Authorities have also urged motorists to drive cautiously and stay updated through official sources regarding the reopening of the highway.
Further details are awaited.(Agencies)
