Kishtwar, June 22: In a major boost to educational infrastructure in Kishtwar district, the Directorate of School Education Jammu has accorded Administrative Approval of ₹310.71 lakh (₹3.11 crore) under the Capex Budget 2026-27 for the construction of a Double Storey (G+1) School Building at Government High School Kuntwara.
Welcoming the sanction, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar described it as a historic milestone for the people of Kuntwara and a significant step towards strengthening educational facilities in the area. She said the new school building will provide improved learning infrastructure, better academic resources and a conducive environment for the holistic development of students.

The MLA expressed gratitude to the School Education Department and all concerned authorities for approving the project, stating that quality educational infrastructure is essential for empowering future generations and ensuring balanced development in remote areas.
The sanction assumes greater significance as residents attribute the achievement to the MLA’s sustained efforts to address the developmental aspirations of Kuntwara. Earlier this month, Shagun Parihar met Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and raised the long-pending issue of road connectivity for Kuntwara.
Despite being located just a short distance from National Highway-244, Kuntwara—home to nearly 20,000 people—continues to remain without proper road connectivity. The area has long been demanding improved infrastructure and better access to essential services.
Reaffirming her commitment to the development of every region of the constituency, Shagun Parihar said efforts will continue to secure key infrastructure projects and ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of Kishtwar.

The newly sanctioned school building is expected to significantly enhance educational facilities and benefit hundreds of students from Kuntwara and adjoining areas for years to come.
