Kishtwar, June 16: In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure, Kishtwar MLA Shagun Parihar on Tuesday inaugurated and dedicated a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI Facility at District Hospital Kishtwar, making Kishtwar the first district in Jammu and Kashmir to have such an advanced MRI diagnostic facility operational at the district hospital level.
The landmark healthcare project has been established through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding provided by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, reflecting a strong commitment towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in remote and underserved regions.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Shagun Parihar described the inauguration as a historic and transformative development for the healthcare sector of Kishtwar. She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Power and PGCIL for extending CSR support to the project, which has fulfilled a long-pending demand of the people of the district.
She said the installation of the advanced MRI machine would greatly benefit patients by providing quality diagnostic services within the district, eliminating the need for frequent referrals to Jammu and other cities for MRI examinations. The facility will ensure timely diagnosis and treatment, reduce the financial burden on patients and improve access to specialized healthcare services for thousands of residents, particularly those living in far-flung and remote areas.
Reaffirming her commitment to public welfare, Shagun Parihar stated that continuous efforts are being made to upgrade healthcare infrastructure and bring modern medical facilities to Kishtwar so that people can access quality healthcare closer to their homes.
The inauguration was widely welcomed by local residents, who hailed the initiative as a transformative step towards improving healthcare delivery in the region. Senior officials of the Health Department, medical professionals and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
The commissioning of the MRI facility marks a significant milestone in Kishtwar’s healthcare journey and is expected to substantially enhance diagnostic capabilities at District Hospital Kishtwar, benefiting patients from across the district and adjoining areas.
