Doda Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize 53 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance

Doda, June 15: Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police achieved a major success by arresting two alleged drug peddlers and recovering approximately 53 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.

According to police, acting on reliable information, Police Station Doda registered FIR No. 154/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and launched an investigation into the case.

During the course of investigation, a police team from Police Station Doda, led by the SHO under the supervision of the DySP Headquarters Doda, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02DJ-7063 that was travelling towards Doda from the Jammu side.

During the search operation, police apprehended two suspects. A personal search of the accused led to the recovery of approximately 30.34 grams of heroin-like substance from one individual and 22.75 grams from the other, taking the total recovery to around 53 grams.

Both accused have been taken into custody, while the recovered contraband has been seized in accordance with legal procedures. The vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the offence has also been taken into police custody.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the backward and forward linkages of the drug network and identify other persons involved in the illicit trade.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, Doda Police said it remains committed to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and traffickers. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse, with police assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

Doda Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the drug menace and ensuring a safer, healthier and drug-free future for the youth of the district.
