Padyatras and Awareness Drives Continue Across Pulwama Under NMBA Campaign

Multiple departments conduct outreach, sports and counselling activities to promote drug-free society

PULWAMA, MAY 15: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMBA), a series of awareness, outreach and sports activities were conducted across District Pulwama to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.

Awareness programmes were organised at Jawahirpora Tral, Wuyan Payeen Pampore and Chatapora Pulwama, where resource persons and officers sensitised participants about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Activities including awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns, plantation drives and padyatras were held to encourage collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society.

Self Help Group (SHG) members also organised an awareness and counselling session along with a padyatra at Machama Tral to educate people about the ill effects of substance abuse and promote community participation in the anti-drug campaign.

Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama conducted multiple sports and awareness activities across various educational zones under the campaign.

In Zone Pulwama, a writing competition on “Role of Students in Curbing Drug Abuse” was held at HSS Hawl, while awareness drives were conducted at HS Malangpora. Cricket matches were organised at UPS Chewakalan and yoga sessions were held at UPS Uzrampathri.

In Zone Tahab, awareness programmes were conducted at HS Naina, while chess and badminton competitions were held at MS Gulzarpora. In Zone Pampore, fitness events, counselling sessions and training programmes were organised for students.

In Zone Tral, zonal-level competitions for U-14 and U-17 girls in chess and Kabaddi competitions for U-17 boys were conducted under the campaign. In Zone Lurgam, athletic meets for AAG boys were organised at Sports Stadium Satoora and Sports Stadium Lurgam.

Similarly, in Zone Awantipora, zonal-level table tennis competitions for girls were held at HSS Dadsara under the supervision of the Zonal Office Awantipora.
