Udhampur, May 14: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting with district and block-level teams to review the availability of essential drugs and diagnostic facilities across public health institutions, along with assessing the status of the ATF facility at Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash, Chief Medical Officer, Block Medical Officers, and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Medical Officer briefed the DC on the availability of essential medicines and diagnostic services across public health institutions in the district, along with the latest progress of the ATF facility at GMC Udhampur.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure effective counselling of drug addicts at the block level and to intensify awareness campaigns highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse.
He instructed Block Medical Officers to identify individuals affected by drug addiction, sensitise them about available treatment facilities, and conduct regular counselling sessions to support rehabilitation and recovery.
Emphasising a coordinated and sustained approach, the DC called for increased public awareness and active community participation to build a healthier and drug-free society in the district.
Officials assured that efforts would be further strengthened to improve healthcare delivery and expand outreach against substance abuse.
