Kulgam, May 14: In a major initiative aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing the misuse of sensitive materials, Kulgam Police has launched a district-wide checking and verification drive across different business establishments in the district.
The drive was launched on the directions of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, with police teams carrying out inspections under the supervision of senior officers concerned.
As part of the operation, police teams conducted verification of records and physical inspections of scrap dealers, SIM card vendors, workshops, fertilizer shops, and chemical outlets across the district. Officials said the aim of the drive is to ensure that the sale, purchase, storage, and transportation of vehicles, SIM cards, fertilizers, and chemicals are being carried out in strict compliance with existing laws and regulations.
Police teams are also examining relevant documents to eliminate any possibility of misuse of such materials for unlawful or anti-social activities.
Kulgam Police has appealed to all business owners and shopkeepers to cooperate with the ongoing verification process, stating that the exercise is being conducted in the larger interest of public safety and security.
The police also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law across the district. (Agencies)
