Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today joined the Nasha-Mukt Jammu Kashmir Campaign padyatra in Kupwara and addressed a public gathering, highlighting intensified action against drug smuggling networks in the Union Territory.
He said that over the past 32 days, civil and police administration has launched a strong crackdown on the drug ecosystem, describing it as a “people’s movement turning into a revolution against narcotics.”
The LG stated that over 730 drug smugglers and peddlers have been arrested, properties worth crores seized, assets confiscated, and passports of 15 smugglers recommended for cancellation.

He said drug smuggling and terrorism are interconnected, calling them “two heads of the same snake,” and alleged that narcotics funds are being used to support terror activities.
Emphasizing public participation, he said a strong mass movement has emerged across Jammu and Kashmir involving villages, towns, schools, and colleges.
He also urged strict action in Kupwara and Handwara, directing police to identify and act against all drug peddlers, while appealing for rehabilitation and compassionate treatment of addicts.
