The Central Kashmir Excise Range carried out a major enforcement drive against illegal poppy cultivation under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, destroying narcotic crops across Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal in coordination with Police, Revenue, and Agriculture departments.
During the operation, illegal poppy cultivation was identified and destroyed at multiple locations, including Khandah in Tehsil BK Pora, Budgam. Officials confirmed that legal procedures including seizure, sampling, and on-spot destruction were followed as per norms.
FIR No. 60/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to eliminating illegal narcotic cultivation and ensuring strict enforcement of drug control laws across the region. They said such drives will continue to safeguard society from the drug menace.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior Excise officials in coordination with district agencies.
