6 members of family booked for a murder of 50 year old in Kishtwar

Jammu/Kishtwar, March 26, 2026: A man was allegedly killed following a violent clash between two families in the Pathernaki area of Padyarna in Kishtwar district, after a minor dispute escalated into a fatal confrontation.

The deceased has been identified as Mohd Shafi (50), son of Mohd Yousaf, a resident of Pathernaki.

According to reports, the dispute between the two families had reportedly begun a couple of days ago during a verbal altercation at a local marriage ceremony.

In an attempt to resolve the matter, villagers had convened a meeting today at a local school. However, the situation took a serious turn when a fresh argument broke out between the families, leading to a violent clash.

During the altercation, Mohd Shafi sustained critical injuries and later succumbed.

The body of the deceased has been shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case and booked six accused in connection with the murder. The accused have been identified as:
• Khurshid Ahmad s/o Ayouba
• Fareed Ahmad s/o Ayouba
• Mohd Qasim s/o Fareed Ahmad
• Zulafkaar s/o Fareed Ahmad
• Mohd Rafi s/o Fareed Ahmad
• Mohd Jabbar s/o Fareed Ahmad

All the accused are residents of Pathernaki, Padyarna.

Police officials said that further investigation has been initiated, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused involved in the crime.
