The largest congregation is taking place at Hazratbal Shrine, while Masjids in several areas have been illuminated to mark the occasion.

Shab-e-Meraj commemorates the sacred night of the miraculous ascension (Meraj) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to the heavens. Devotees across the Valley are spending the night in worship, humility, and supplication, seeking mercy, forgiveness, and divine blessings.

A large number of people have gathered at Hazratbal for night-long prayers.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and SSP Srinagar Sandeep Chakravarthy reviewed arrangements at Hazratbal Shrine and directed all concerned departments—including Power Development, Jal Shakti, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health Services, and Traffic Police—to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities, and smooth traffic management.

“All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Shab-e-Meraj, with special focus on the comfort and safety of devotees,” the DC said.

The J&K Waqf Board has also put in place extensive measures, including deployment of volunteers for crowd management, installation of water tanks, restoration of streetlights, and setting up mobile toilets. The Health Department has stationed medical teams and ambulances near the shrine to provide round-the-clock assistance. (Agencies)
