“Efforts were made to rationalize the reservation policy as promised to the people and to ensure that no one faces any injustice,” he said.

Without naming anyone, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said those who earlier accused the government of inaction on reservation are now threatening agitation.

“It is easy to do politics on this issue. Those who said we had done nothing on reservation are now warning of agitation if we proceed,” he said.

Omar added, “We couldn’t have carried out a more detailed exercise than this. Every issue was examined. This is the third or fourth time the matter has come before the cabinet. The cabinet sub-committee spent six months completing the exercise.”

However, the CM refused to disclose the cabinet’s final decision on the reservation issue. “The matter will now go to the LG. I wouldn’t like to disclose more on it,” he said. (Agencies)
