Jammu, Nov 20: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has scheduled a plea filed by detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik for final consideration on December 4, following detailed arguments on Thursday, a member of his legal counsel said.

Malik, the AAP’s J&K unit president, was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 8 for allegedly disturbing public order and is currently lodged in Kathua Jail. He filed a habeas corpus petition on September 24, challenging his detention and seeking ₹5 crore compensation.

AAP spokesperson Appu Singh Salathia said senior advocate Rahul Panth argued extensively before Justice Yousef Wani, terming the detention grounds illegal. After over an hour and a half of arguments, the court adjourned the matter, listing it for final hearing on December 4.
