BEIJING, April 29: A fire at a restaurant in Liaoyang city, located in China’s Liaoning province, claimed the lives of 22 people on Tuesday.
The fire started at 12:25 p.m., resulting in 22 fatalities and leaving three others injured, according to the State-run Xinhua news agency.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for all-out efforts to treat the injured, the report added.
This marks the second significant fire incident in China this month. On April 9, a fire at a nursing home in Hebei province killed 20 elderly residents. At the time of the blaze, 39 elderly people were inside the facility in Longhua county, Chengde city.
