Srinagar: A significant push towards entrepreneurship and self-employment has been recorded in the Lolab Assembly constituency, with 109 enterprises established and reported operational under Mission YUVA during the current financial year, according to details presented by the Jammu and Kashmir Government in the Legislative Assembly.
The Labour and Employment Department reported that these 109 Mission YUVA beneficiaries received ₹6.08 crore in loans and ₹50.33 lakh in subsidy or other assistance, taking the total support to around ₹6.58 crore. All 109 enterprises were reported to be operational.
The government data also highlighted substantial support under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). A total of 651 units in Lolab were assisted under PMEGP, involving financial assistance of approximately ₹9.62 crore. Of these, 626 units were reported operational.
Overall, the Industries and Commerce Department reported 790 units assisted in Lolab, with total financial assistance of ₹12.41 crore through various enterprise-generation schemes. Besides PMEGP, support was extended through JKREGP, the Credit Card Scheme for Artisans and Weavers, the PM Weavers MUDRA Scheme and other programmes.
The figures underline the growing role of government-backed credit, subsidies and entrepreneurship programmes in supporting small businesses and livelihood opportunities in the Lolab area.
