A special debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ commenced in the Lok Sabha on Monday, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivering the opening statement. He reiterated that India has only paused the military operation — not ended it — and firmly warned Pakistan that any further misadventure will be met with renewed force. Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the brutal terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including several tourists. The debate is part of a broader discussion on national security, cross-border terrorism, and India’s military preparedness.
During his address, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the “brave sons of India” who displayed exceptional courage on the battlefield. He described Operation Sindoor as a “historic military campaign” and a “clear, decisive expression of India’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.” Singh added that before launching the operation, the armed forces carefully examined all options and chose the one that would inflict maximum damage on terrorist networks.
After a week of disruptions since the Monsoon Session began on July 21, the debate in Parliament has now taken a high-voltage turn, with key leaders from both the ruling NDA and the Opposition actively participating in the discussion. (Agencies)
