India are set to take on Pakistan in their third group-stage match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday. However, the much-anticipated clash at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo could be affected by rain.

According to AccuWeather, Colombo is expected to witness 100 percent cloud cover on Sunday, with around a 13 percent chance of rain in the evening. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM local time, with the toss at 6:30 PM. Notably, at 6:00 PM — an hour before the start — there is a 49 percent chance of rain.

At 7:00 PM, the probability of precipitation is forecast at 9 percent, with complete cloud cover expected to persist until 11:00 PM local time.

If the match is washed out, both teams will receive one point each, as the group-stage fixture does not have a reserve day.

Both India and Pakistan have won their opening two matches in the tournament. India registered victories over the United States of America and Namibia, while Pakistan defeated the Netherlands and the USA.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India currently top Group A with four points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +3.050. Pakistan are placed second, also with four points, but with an NRR of +0.932.

Ahead of the high-voltage encounter, India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan said the Pakistan clash would be special but stressed the team’s focus on assessing conditions and playing accordingly. (Agencies)
