Udhampur Encounter: One Soldier Martyred in Ongoing Operation in Basantgarh
A soldier lost his life during a fierce gunfight in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Thursday, the Indian Army confirmed.
According to a post by the Army’s White Knight Corps on X (formerly Twitter), a joint operation was launched with the police based on specific intelligence inputs. Security forces made contact with militants, leading to a heavy exchange of fire.
During the initial firefight, one soldier sustained critical injuries and later succumbed despite all medical efforts to save him.
The Army further stated that the operation in the area is still underway.
