Two people lost their lives after a landslide struck near Shiv Gufa in the Mahore area of Reasi district on Wednesday night.
According to officials, the landslide occurred during the early hours, burying a tent where the victims were sleeping. The deceased have been identified as Rashpal Singh (26), son of Soba Ram, a resident of Tuli Kalavan in Chasana tehsil of Reasi, and Ravi Kumar (23), son of Purushottam Kumar, hailing from Chenani in Udhampur district.
Rashpal Singh was reportedly working as a JCB operator. Both men were inside the tent when the landslide struck, leaving them with no chance to escape.
Meanwhile, the police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings,(sources).
