Ramban, Mar 25: Tourists are flocking to the bowl-shaped Sanasar Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, drawn by the arrival of spring and the clearance of snow from the Patnitop-Sanasar road.

Local stakeholders—including hoteliers, boatmen, and vendors—are gearing up for a busy tourist season, anticipating a significant influx of visitors this year.

A key attraction is the Tulip Garden beside Sanasar’s central lake, which has emerged as a major highlight for those travelling along the Patnitop-Sanasar road.

Families and children have begun arriving to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from horseback riding and ziplining to interactive games. Local boatmen are also refurbishing their boats in preparation for increased tourist activity marking the onset of the spring season.

Residents hope this season will help recover losses suffered last year, caused by the Pahalgam massacre, Operation Sindhoor, and damages from landslides triggered by cloudbursts and heavy rains.

Officials confirmed that Jammu’s largest Tulip Garden is set to open soon. Speaking to ANI, Vivek Modi, Director of the Department of Floriculture, said, “I am here to see the development and how the tulips have bloomed. The garden will open within a few days and will feature an e-ticketing system. Footfall is expected to be high this season.”

The Tulip Garden, spread over 35 Kanal, features more than 2 lakh flowers across 25 varieties. A fountain at the center of the garden, complemented by decorative lighting, adds to the scenic charm.

In addition to tulips, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden showcases daffodils, hyacinths, roses, ranunculi, muscaria, and iris blooms, creating a vivid tapestry of colours and fragrances that enthralls visitors. (Agency)
