Faizan Ansari, a tourist from outside the region, shared his thoughts: “The people of Kashmir are cooperative and well-educated, and there are no issues at all. The situation here is very calm right now. I want to tell all tourists not to cancel their trip—Kashmir is safe and welcoming.”

A tourist from Mumbai also expressed his admiration, saying, “Kashmir is truly heaven on earth. It’s a wonderful place that everyone should visit. The safety here is great, and the people are kind—it feels like a home away from home.”

Vikram Bhai Vyas, a visitor from Vadodara, Gujarat, said, “I don’t feel good about leaving today. I’ve had an amazing experience here. The hoteliers have supported us throughout our stay, and we felt no fear. The locals have been very welcoming. There is no reason to be afraid—tourists should definitely visit.”

However, the situation in Pahalgam’s Baisaran valley—the site of the attack—presents a different picture. Once a popular tourist destination, the area now remains quiet, with only a few civilians and patrolling security forces visible.

In response to the recent attack, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their operations against those linked to the incident.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army reported that it responded to unprovoked small-arms fire from Pakistani positions along the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of May 5 to the early hours of May 6. The Pakistan Army initiated the firing from posts in the areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir.
