NEW DELHI: Three minor girls from Maharashtra allegedly pretended to be kidnapped in an effort to gather money and travel to South Korea to meet BTS, the popular K-pop band, police said on Monday.
The girls, aged 11 and 13, from Dharashiv district, had planned to head to Pune to find work and save enough for their trip to South Korea, an official from Omerga police station stated.
On December 27, Dharashiv police received a call on their helpline reporting that three girls were allegedly abducted in a school van from Omerga taluka.Responding immediately, police traced the call to a woman traveling by state transport bus from
Authorities tracked the bus as it passed through Mohol in Solapur district, with assistance from Mohol police and a local shopkeeper at the bus stand.
The shopkeeper helped remove the girls from the bus, and they were taken to a nearby police station.Later, the Omerga police team and the girls’ parents arrived to collect them.
Upon further questioning the next day, the girls admitted they had planned to work in Pune to earn money for a trip to South Korea to meet BTS, the official confirmed.
