Three J&K Segment AGMUT Cadre IPS Officers Promoted to IGP, Eight to DIGP Grade

Jammu, Dec 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, has approved the promotion of several AGMUT cadre IPS officers from the Jammu and Kashmir segment to higher ranks.

According to official orders, three officers have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP), eight to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), while nine officers have been granted Selection Grade and six officers Junior Administrative Grade (JAG).

All promotions will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is earlier.

Those promoted to the IGP rank (Level 14) include Tejinder Singh, Abdul Jabbar, and Udaybhaskar Billa. Tejinder Singh is currently posted as DIG Rajouri–Poonch, while Abdul Jabbar and Udaybhaskar Billa, presently on Central deputation, have been granted proforma promotion.

The officers elevated to the DIGP rank (Level 13-A) are Sargun Shukla, Sandeep Wazir, Anita Sharma, Jatinder Singh Johar, Swarn Singh Kotwal, Zahid Nasim Manhas, Dr Koushal Kumar Sharma, and Sandeep Choudhary. While most are serving in key positions across Jammu and Kashmir, Sandeep Choudhary, currently posted as SSP NIA on Central deputation, has also been granted proforma promotion.

Meanwhile, Selection Grade (Level 13) has been granted to Ashish Kumar Mishra, Nagpure Amod Ashok, Gurinder Pal Singh, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Bakar Hussain Samoon, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Ranjit Singh Samyal, Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, and Chandan Kohli. Some officers are currently on deputation, including Ashish Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kohli, who have been given proforma promotions.

Additionally, Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) has been approved for Bisma Qazi, Tanushree, Sahil Sarangal, Anayat Ali Choudhary, Nikhil Borkar, and Mohita Sharma, all of whom are presently serving as Senior Superintendents of Police or Commanding Officers in various districts and units of Jammu and Kashmir.  (Agencies)
