Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday produced a chargesheet against the then Naazir (Senior Assistant) of Tehsil Office Khag, Budgam, in a bribery trap case.
According to a statement issued here, the ACB filed the chargesheet under FIR number 14/2023, registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar Kashmir. The chargesheet names Fayaz-ud-din Shora, then Naazir (Senior Assistant) at Tehsil Office Khag, Budgam, as the accused, and was presented before the Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar.
The FIR was registered on August 3, 2023, following a written complaint alleging that the accused demanded Rs 2,000 as a bribe for listing an under-trial property dispute case before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Khag. A trap was laid, and the accused was caught red-handed accepting Rs 2,000 from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered on the spot, and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the accused’s hands.
The investigation, supported by strong evidence, established that Fayaz-ud-din Shora committed an offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
After obtaining the necessary prosecution sanction from the government, the chargesheet was submitted to the Hon’ble Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar on August 12, 2025, for judicial proceedings. The next hearing is scheduled for September 24, 2025. (Agencies)
