Jammu: Police on Monday said they have seized the Thar involved in a collision with a Scooty and detained its owner for questioning in the Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu district.
In a statement, the police said that in connection with the incident that occurred on July 27, 2025, near Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, involving a Mahindra Thar SUV and a Scooty, an FIR has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and an investigation was promptly initiated.
According to initial information from a reliable source, the Mahindra Thar (registration number JK02DP-9594) was being driven recklessly from Gandhi Nagar towards Green Belt Park when it collided with a Scooty (JK02BS-6435) near Allora Textiles around 1:30 PM. The Scooty, approaching from the opposite direction, was hit by the Thar, causing injuries to the rider. The injured person was taken to GMC Jammu by bystanders, while the Thar driver fled the scene.
Based on this, FIR No. 163/2025 was registered under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
Following this, SHO Gandhi Nagar and his team acted swiftly and began collecting and examining all key evidence. CCTV footage of the incident was retrieved and the statement of an eyewitness was recorded, which revealed a more disturbing detail.
