Responding to allegations by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma, Omar wrote on X, “I swear on the Holy Quran that I didn’t seek an alliance with the BJP in 2024 for Statehood or for any other reason. Unlike Sunil Sharma, I don’t tell lies for a living.”

The sharp rebuttal came after Sunil Sharma challenged Omar to take an oath if he had not contacted the BJP leadership.

Sunil Sharma Hits Back; Raises 2014 Meeting Claims

Soon after Omar’s statement, Sunil Sharma issued a counter-response, stating that he would come back with more details regarding 2024, while shifting focus to alleged political talks held in 2014.

He questioned whether Omar denied meeting BJP leaders for government formation that year, saying:

“Do you deny holding any meeting with the BJP top brass for government formation?”

Sharma further added that he was attaching a recent video clip allegedly showing Omar acknowledging the same.

In a sharp attack, Sharma said he would not ask Omar to take another oath since, according to him, the video already proves Omar’s position.

He wrote:

“I don’t want you to take yet another oath when you have on camera accepted the same. It is that rare, once-in-a-decade moment where you blurted out the truth. I am sure it must have been accidental. But accidents do happen.”

Escalating his remarks, Sharma said,

“I don’t tell lies for a living. I don’t lie at all. Unlike you. YOU LIVE TO LIE.”

Political Temperature Rises Ahead of By-Polls

The exchange has fueled a fresh war of words between the National Conference (NC) and the BJP in the run-up to the assembly by-elections, particularly in Budgam.

Both sides continue to trade allegations over past political negotiations and claims of hidden alliances.
