SSP Kishtwar Reviews Counter-Intelligence, Anti-Terror Preparedness and Crime Scenario

Kishtwar, Feb. 08, 2026: A comprehensive crime, counter-intelligence and security review meeting was held today at the District Police Office (DPO) Kishtwar under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Shri Naresh Singh–JKPS.

The meeting was aimed at reviewing compliance with earlier directives, assessing the prevailing crime and security scenario, and strengthening counter-intelligence mechanisms to prevent terrorist and anti-national activities in the district. Officers from Sub-Divisions Kishtwar, Chatroo, Atholi and Marwah participated in the meeting and briefed the chair on area-specific issues, operational progress and challenges on the ground.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on recent crime trends, progress of investigations, pendency of cases and disposal timelines, with emphasis on ensuring speedy and lawful investigation. The overall security and counter-terror scenario was reviewed in depth, including border area vigilance, checkpoint functioning and quick response preparedness. Officers highlighted sustained area domination through cordon-and-search operations, night patrolling and close coordination with Army and CRPF units.

Special focus was laid on strengthening counter-intelligence inputs, enhancing surveillance, and generating actionable ground-level information to neutralize any attempts by terrorist or anti-national elements. Directions were issued to further strengthen Quick Reaction Teams and improve CCTV surveillance in vulnerable and high-risk areas.

The SSP also emphasized strengthening the beat system through regular beat patrolling, proper maintenance of beat books and continuous community interaction to ensure early detection of suspicious activities. The enforcement drive against drug trafficking and illegal bovine smuggling was reviewed, with clear instructions to intensify action against offenders involved in such unlawful activities.

Counter-militancy measures were discussed with stress on heightened alertness, proactive patrolling, inter-agency coordination and effective area domination, particularly in vulnerable pockets of Chatroo and Marwah sectors.

Addressing the officers, SSP Kishtwar stressed the importance of sustained field presence, strict adherence to law and order protocols, enhanced community engagement and robust intelligence collection to maintain peace and security in the district. He directed officers to remain extra vigilant in sensitive areas and work in close coordination with security agencies to pre-empt any subversive designs.

The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Kishtwar Shri Pardeep Singh Goria–JKAS, Dy.SP Hqrs Kishtwar Dr. Ishan Gupta–JKPS, Dy.SP PC Kishtwar Shri Sharvan Singh–JKPS, SDPO Marwah Shri Ravinder Singh, SHOs, IC PPs, IOs and other concerned officers of District Police Kishtwar.
