A soldier lost his life in a fierce gunfight after the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri sector on Wednesday.
Official sources said the troops engaged the infiltrating terrorists in a brief but intense exchange of fire.
“During the operation, one of our soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while bravely defending the nation,” the sources said.
They added that the Army has launched a counter-infiltration and Border Action Team (BAT) operation in the area to track down the attackers.
Search operations were still underway in the sector when the last reports came in. (Agencies)
