Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board extends relief to flood and landslide-affected families; to provide comprehensive assistance for their well-being and safety

In a humanitarian gesture, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has launched a significant relief initiative, under the directions of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, to support more than 1,000 families affected by heavy rainfall and landslides in Katra and other parts of Reasi and Udhampur districts.

As part of the initiative, relief supplies for 400 families were handed over to the District Administration, Reasi, to ensure timely distribution among the affected. Similarly, relief material for another 400 families in Udhampur will be handed over to the concerned authorities on Thursday.

The Lieutenant Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shrine Board, expressed his anguish over the suffering of the affected families and assured them of all possible assistance.

The relief material includes dry ration kits, utensils, blankets, medicines, buckets, tarpaulin, tents and other essentials to address immediate needs and help affected families cope with the aftermath of the calamity.

On the request of the District Administration, families from village Purana Daroor, whose homes have been severely damaged, have been temporarily shifted to Shakti Bhawan, Niharika Complex of the Shrine Board, Katra, to ensure their safety and well-being during this challenging period.

Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting the local community, especially during crises. He underscored that, in coordination with the District Administration Reasi, the Shrine Board will continue to provide comprehensive assistance to affected families for their safety and welfare.

Notably, the Shrine Board has previously undertaken similar initiatives during times of crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other calamities, to serve and support the community. (Sources)
