Jammu, Jan 2, 2026: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior National Conference leader Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today met the Party President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, and briefed him on the proceedings of the recently concluded Rajya Sabha Winter Session. He apprised the Party President about the key issues raised by the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Members of Parliament during the session.
During the meeting, MP Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo informed Dr Farooq Abdullah about the prevailing political and developmental situation in the Jammu province, with special focus on the Chenab Valley region. He highlighted the existing ground realities, developmental challenges, and the urgent need for focused attention towards remote and hilly areas to ensure balanced and inclusive development.
Kichloo also brought to the notice of the Party President the unfortunate fire incident that occurred last night in village Thachna of Dachhan area, where several residential houses were completely gutted and a number of shops damaged, resulting in massive financial losses to the affected families. He stressed the immediate need for relief, rehabilitation, and adequate compensation for the victims of the tragedy.
Dr Farooq Abdullah appreciated the proactive and effective role played by the JKNC Members of Parliament in raising crucial public issues in Parliament, particularly those related to prisoners, restoration of statehood, special status of Jammu and Kashmir, and various development-related matters. He lauded their consistent parliamentary interventions in defence of the rights and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Minister and former Member of Parliament Mohammad Shafi Uri was also present during the meeting.
The Party President assured that the concerns raised—especially those related to the Chenab Valley and the fire-affected families of Dachhan—would be pursued at appropriate forums to ensure justice, timely relief, and sustained development.
