The department said weather conditions are likely to remain largely dry till January 31, with cloud cover increasing by evening. An improvement is forecast from February 3, with partly cloudy skies expected between February 3 and February 6.

In view of the forecast, authorities have issued an advisory urging travellers and transporters to exercise caution. People have been advised to check traffic updates and road conditions before travelling, especially on mountain routes and inter-district roads.

Residents of snow-bound and high-altitude areas have also been cautioned against venturing into slippery and avalanche-prone zones during the snowfall period, the official said.

He added that following the advisories is essential to avoid inconvenience and ensure public safety during the expected change in weather. (Agencies)
