According to data shared in Parliament last week by the Minister of Railways, the Railways is recruiting for 92,116 vacancies during the January–December 2024 period. For 64,197 posts across seven major categories, the ministry received more than 1.87 crore applications.
In a written reply, the ministry noted that vacancy pressures have increased over the past four to five years due to a combination of factors, including large-scale retirements, network expansion, and modernisation efforts such as new safety systems, electrification projects, mechanised operations, and the adoption of digital technologies.
