Pulwama records the season’s lowest temperature at minus 5.1°C as the cold wave intensifies across Kashmir.

The cold wave intensified across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday as minimum temperatures dipped sharply amid the ongoing dry spell, officials said.

In the Kashmir Valley, Pulwama recorded the lowest temperature at minus 5.1°C, followed by Shopian at minus 5.0°C and Baramulla at minus 4.9°C.

Pahalgam settled at minus 4.8°C, while Srinagar recorded minus 3.7°C.

Pampore and Srinagar Airport both recorded minus 4.0°C, Awantipora minus 4.2°C, Budgam minus 4.1°C, and Qazigund, Bandipora and Kupwara minus 3.6°C each.

Gulmarg stood at minus 2.5°C, Kokernag minus 0.5°C, Ganderbal minus 2.6°C, Kulgam minus 0.9°C, and Sonamarg minus 4.5°C.

The temperature dropped to minus 5.2°C at Zethan Rafiabad, while Zojila Pass was the coldest at minus 19.0°C.

In the Jammu region, temperatures stayed above freezing but the chill persisted. Bhaderwah recorded 0.9°C, while Rajouri touched 0.4°C, officials said.

Jammu city recorded 7.3°C, Katra 10.1°C, Kathua 7.6°C, and Jammu Airport 7.5°C.

Udhampur settled at 2.0°C, Samba 2.3°C, Banihal 3.7°C, Ramban 4.6°C, Kishtwar 4.2°C, Doda 5.4°C, Batote 6.6°C, and Reasi 6.5°C.

In Ladakh, the deep freeze continued with Leh recording minus 8.5°C, Kargil minus 7.2°C, and Nubra Valley minus 6.0°C.

Officials said minimum temperatures are likely to fall further over the next few days if the dry spell persists. (Agencies)
