Jammu Nov 6, 2025: The District Magistrate of Kishtwar has issued an urgent public notice warning citizens about a fraudulent scheme involving fake renewals of arms licenses. The alert, released on Thursday (November 6), cautions that certain individuals are engaged in forging official stamps and signatures to produce counterfeit endorsements appearing to be issued by the District Magistrate’s office.

The official notice confirms that forged and fabricated documents are being circulated to create a false impression that arms licenses have been manually renewed through authorized government channels.

As a part of fraudulent Practices, the individuals are reportedly passing off fake stamps and forged signatures as genuine endorsements for license renewals.

Further District Magistrate Kishtwar warn people about misinformation campaign about the use of counterfeit documents is an attempt to mislead citizens and undermine official processes.

In response to the discovery, the District Magistrate has taken swift action and issued a strict warning to the public.

 

“Anyone found involved in the creation, distribution, or use of such forged or fake documents will face strict legal consequences under relevant provisions of law,” the District Magistrate stated.

 

The District Information Officer, Kishtwar, has been instructed to publicize the warning across print, electronic, and social media platforms to ensure maximum public awareness and to curb misinformation.

Citizens have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities or individuals involved in such fraudulent acts to the authorities without delay.

 

The notice, digitally signed by Pankaj Kumar Sharma, District Magistrate Kishtwar, underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining transparency and public safety.

 

This alert also comes amid ongoing investigations into a wider arms license scam that has surfaced across several districts in Jammu and Kashmir over recent years. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have reiterated that any attempt to exploit public trust or falsify official records will invite severe penal action.
