Police Attach Property of Designated Terrorist Under UAPA in Sopore
In a decisive move against terror infrastructure, police on Tuesday attached the immovable property of a designated terrorist in North Kashmir’s Sopore under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to a police spokesperson, the property belongs to Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, son of Abdul Khaliq Kandoo, a resident of Kralteng, Sopore. Imtiyaz, a listed terrorist and key Pakistan-based handler of the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, had his assets seized as part of ongoing efforts to curb terror funding and logistics.
The attached property includes a 13×12 feet plot comprising one shop and a room, located under Survey No. 780 Min in Kralteng, Sopore. The action stems from an FIR (No. 201/2013) registered at Police Station Sopore in connection with terror-related activities.
The seizure was executed under Sections 87 and 88 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) by a joint team of Sopore Police and Revenue Department officials, with proper court authorization. Authorities noted that the property was likely being used to shelter terrorists and facilitate illegal activities in the region.
This development represents a strong step toward dismantling the terror support structure in Sopore. Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism, maintaining public order, and safeguarding national security.
