Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, (HoFF), J&K Forest Department visits Batote Forest Division

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and HoFF, Shri Roshan Jaggi IFS, conducted a tour of Batote Forest Division today on 9th March 2024. During the tour, a meeting of Chenab Circle, including Officers of Territorial and other Sister wings, was conducted at the Conference Hall, Batote, wherein a comprehensive review of ongoing developmental works being carried out in Chenab Circle during the current financial year and other important issues was undertaken.

The meeting was attended by Shri. Irfan Rasool Wani, (IFS), CCF/Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle Doda, and all the Territorial DFOs of Chenab Circle. Besides this, Officers of allied wings i.e. Social Forestry, Forest Development Corporation, Forest Protection Force, and Soil conservation also participated in the meeting. The PCCF stressed upon the officers to work in unison and in a collaborative manner to achieve the desired results. Besides, he also advised the officers to complete the Deliverables set for the department by 15th of March. The officer stressed on timely achieving the planting target under different schemes like CAMPA, CAPEX, One beat Guard One Village, etc. The operationalization of NTFP policy and ongoing Demarcation works were also discussed threadbare for the completion of Targets.

The meeting was followed by interaction with Local prominent public of the Batote town, including DDC Batote Sh. Jagveer Singh, Social workers, and farmers of the locality. During the interaction, the officer laid stress on large scale involvement of locals in plantation and protection activities for the overall development and robust protection of the forests.

The tour culminated with the distribution of broad-leaved and fruit-bearing plant saplings, especially Anardana (under One District One product), Apple, Apricot to the forest fringe residents under Low-Cost Greening Intervention and Farm Forestry.
