Police on Saturday said they have taken cognizance of a landslide incident that occurred at Khanpora on December 19, 2025.
In a handout issued to GNS, the police said the incident was caused by illegal stone quarrying activities in the area, which led to a sudden slide of debris and earth.
The landslide posed a serious threat to human life and raised apprehensions of damage to both public and private property. A police team immediately reached the spot, assessed the situation, and ensured that no loss of life occurred.
In this connection, Police Station Baramulla has registered a case vide FIR No. 219/2025 under relevant provisions of law. An investigation has been initiated to identify those responsible for the illegal activity.
“Baramulla Police remain committed to ensuring public safety and will take strict action against all those found involved in illegal activities,” the statement reads. (Agencies)
