The strikes were carried out in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including tourists and local residents.

In an official post on X, Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed the meeting: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her about Operation Sindoor.”

The government has also convened an all-party meeting to update political leaders on the national security developments and seek bipartisan support amid rising tensions across the border.

Operation Sindoor marks a significant escalation in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, targeting UN-sanctioned terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed deep inside hostile territory.
