Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna and is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm across the country.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to Indians at home and abroad on the eve of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

In a message released by the President’s Secretariat, President Murmu said, “On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, a festival filled with joy and enthusiasm, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad.”

She added, “The life and teachings of Bhagwan Shri Krishna inspire us towards self-development and self-realisation. He enlightened humanity about attaining the ultimate truth by following the path of Dharma. This festival encourages us to adopt the eternal values embodied by Yogeshwar Shri Krishna. On this occasion, let us all pledge to follow his teachings and work towards making our society and nation stronger.”

Meanwhile, in Gujarat’s Dwarka, special security and logistical arrangements have been made for devotees, including dedicated facilities for senior citizens, differently-abled persons, and mothers, along with provisions for clean drinking water and enhanced sanitation.

Preparations are also in full swing across the country, including Maharashtra, where the grand Dahi Handi festivities see devotees forming human pyramids to break earthen pots filled with curd, butter, and other milk products — symbolising Lord Krishna’s playfulness and love for butter and curd.
