Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Budgam Assembly constituency, Aga Muntazir, on Monday formally filed his nomination papers at the office of the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, marking the start of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Aga Muntazir was accompanied by senior PDP leader and former minister Ghulam Nabi Hanjura, party leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, and PDP District President Yaseen Bhat. The leaders were greeted by numerous party workers and supporters outside the DC office, who raised slogans in support of the party and its candidate.
Party sources said Aga Muntazir’s candidature highlights PDP’s renewed focus on central Kashmir, where the party aims to regain its traditional stronghold by addressing issues of governance, development, and youth empowerment.
Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, Aga Muntazir expressed confidence in receiving the people’s support and said the PDP’s agenda focuses on peace, progress, and political dignity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are contesting this election to restore the voice of the people and ensure accountable governance,” he said.
Senior leader Ghulam Nabi Hanjura stated that PDP’s participation in the electoral process reaffirms the party’s faith in democracy. “We believe that the people’s mandate is the ultimate strength of any political movement. The PDP is committed to addressing the aspirations of every section of society,” Hanjura said.
Waheed Para added that the party’s candidates represent the hopes and resilience of the youth. “This election is about reclaiming dignity and rebuilding trust between the people and institutions,” he said. (Agencies)
