Omar Abdullah to Chair Emergency Cabinet Meeting Amid Border Tensions
SRINAGAR: In light of escalating tensions along the borders and the Line of Control (LoC) following India’s air strikes inside Pakistan in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to chair an emergency cabinet meeting in Srinagar, sources confirmed.
The meeting will involve all cabinet members and will focus on assessing the ground situation in the border and LoC areas of the Union Territory.
Earlier, the Chief Minister held a virtual emergency session with Deputy Commissioners of border districts including Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora.
“Reviewed the ground realities along the border and LoC. Divisional Commissioners and DCs presented updates. Prioritised civilian safety and timely response mechanisms,” the Chief Minister’s office stated on X.
In response to current developments, the Chief Minister has also ordered the immediate disbursement of contingency funds to all Deputy Commissioners. Authorities have been instructed to combat misinformation and encourage citizens to follow only verified updates. “We must remain united and resilient,” the official statement added.
