An Over Ground Worker (OGW) linked to terrorists was arrested with three pistols in Jammu, while a fresh search operation was launched in Kathua district following the movement of two suspected individuals, officials said on Wednesday.
Police intercepted a Srinagar-bound private car at the Traffic Checking Point (TCP) near Nagrota late night, which led to the recovery of three pistols of different makes—reportedly of Chinese and Turkish origin—along with some ammunition, the officials added.
Officials said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Azan Hamid from Srinagar, was arrested and is currently being interrogated for his possible links to terror networks.
The arms and ammunition are believed to have been smuggled from across the border and were being transported to Kashmir, they added.
Authorities expect more arrests and recoveries in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, security forces launched a search operation in Chabba Chak, Rampur, and adjoining areas of the Rajbagh sector in Kathua district, following reports of movement by two suspected individuals dressed in black and carrying backpacks.
The suspects, believed to be terrorists, were reportedly seen near the Ujh river late night. The search operation is currently underway, and further details are awaited. (Media reports)
