Though the formal order was issued on February 13 by Provincial Secretary (Jammu) Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, the list was made public today, triggering political discussions in party circles across Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts.

The committee has been constituted on the recommendation of Provincial President Youth National Conference Jammu Sardar Tejinder Pal Singh (Aman) and Provincial President JKNC Rattan Lal Gupta.

As per the order, Sayed Naveed Hashmi has been nominated as President of the Chenab Valley Zone Youth Committee, replacing the previous zonal president as part of the party’s organisational reshuffle. Mukhtyar Ahmad Sheikh has been appointed Senior Vice President, while Farooq Ahmad Malik, Ashwani Kumar, and Mehboobul Mukhtiar will serve as Vice Presidents.

Sahil Thakur has been appointed Secretary of the zone. Political observers point out that Thakur is considered a close confidant of former MP Lal Singh, and his elevation to a key organisational post is being viewed as a strategic move in the Chenab Valley belt.

Murtaza Shah has been named Coordinator, while Umar Katoch, Wasim Gani, Sheikh Usman, and Shamim Ahmad Wani have been appointed as Joint Secretaries.

The Executive Members include Tanveer Dar, Mohd Amin Naik, Simran Singh, and Mohd Imran.

Party insiders said the newly constituted committee replaces the earlier zonal body, with several office bearers from the previous committee not finding place in the fresh list. The reshuffle is being seen as part of the party’s effort to infuse new energy into the youth wing ahead of upcoming political engagements in the region.

Sources within the party disclosed that some of the leaders whose names were dropped from the zonal committee are likely to be accommodated in the Provincial Youth National Conference committees in the coming days, as part of a broader organisational restructuring exercise.

The order has been circulated to senior party leadership, including JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah, for information.

The reconstitution is expected to strengthen the party’s youth outreach and consolidate its base in the Chenab Valley region.
