“Nation demands such actions to prevent attacks like these… they should never happen again”: Farooq Abdullah on Pahalgam attack
In response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah on Monday strongly condemned Pakistan, stressing the urgent need for effective measures to prevent future attacks and questioning the effectiveness of past responses.
Speaking to the media, Abdullah reflected on his previous support for dialogue with Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of upholding humanity’s values. He condemned Pakistan’s actions, accusing them of “murdering humanity” and asserting that India would not compromise on its core principles.
“I have always advocated for dialogue with Pakistan. But how do we answer those who have lost their loved ones? Are we doing justice? Not just Balakot—today, the nation demands action to ensure these attacks never happen again,” Abdullah said.
Abdullah further criticized Pakistan, reaffirming India’s unity and rejecting the two-nation theory. He emphasized that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians are all united in India and declared that India would respond forcefully to those responsible for the attack.
“We regret that our neighbor still doesn’t understand that they have murdered humanity. If they think we will align with them through such acts, they are mistaken. We didn’t align with them in 1947, and we won’t today. We rejected the two-nation theory then, and we still do. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian—we are all one, and we will give them a fitting reply,” Abdullah stated.
Earlier on Monday, Farooq Abdullah attended a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to address the Pahalgam attack. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify India’s response to Pakistan in the aftermath of the attack.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary introduced a resolution in the Assembly to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack and support the diplomatic measures announced by the Union Government following a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
The Pahalgam attack is one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. In response to the recent attack, India has taken strong actions against Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism.
