Mushtaq Tantary Represents Bandipora at Key Congress Leadership Summit in New Delhi
New Delhi, April 4 — In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening the Congress party at the grassroots level, a high-level meeting of District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents was convened at the AICC headquarters, Indira Bhawan, New Delhi. The session was presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, alongside senior party leaders.
During the address, both Kharge and Gandhi underlined the importance of revitalizing the party’s district units. They emphasized that a strong grassroots structure is pivotal to the Congress party’s resurgence and broader public outreach in the lead-up to upcoming elections.
A separate consultative session was held with the Congress leadership from Jammu & Kashmir. Present at the meeting were AICC J&K Incharge General Secretary Nasir, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, senior leader and former JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir, and other key office bearers. The discussions centered on reorganizing the party machinery in the Union Territory and formulating a roadmap to tackle emerging political and public issues.
Among the significant developments was a decision to grant more autonomy to District Presidents for appointing and reshuffling local office bearers—part of a broader decentralization effort to boost efficiency and leadership at the grassroots level.
Mushtaq Tantary, DCC President of Bandipora, actively participated in the sessions and described the experience as historic and transformative. “This gathering has ignited a new spirit of commitment among us. It’s an honor to represent Bandipora and contribute to shaping the Congress party’s future,” he said.
The leadership reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen the party’s presence in Jammu & Kashmir through collective vision, strategic planning, and grassroots empowerment.
