Jammu, January 12: Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farooq Qaiser has shared an important traffic update regarding the Mughal Road on his official Facebook page, informing the public about regulated movement on the strategic road stretch.
According to the update, Mughal Road has been reopened for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Chandimarh onwards, with vehicular movement permitted between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Commuters have been advised to strictly adhere to the prescribed timings and exercise utmost caution while driving, keeping in view road and weather conditions.
However, earlier authorities had completely closed the Mughal Road following fresh snowfall at Pir Ki Gali on January 6 and 7, 2026, as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. The road had remained shut for all traffic till further notice, pending improvement in weather conditions and completion of snow clearance operations.
The Traffic Police have appealed to travelers to remain patient, follow official advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions to prevent accidents and inconvenience.
