Srinagar, July 2 : Minimum temperatures remained above normal in Kashmir on Saturday.
A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 23.5°C against 23.6°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was around 6.4°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital.
Qazigund recorded a low of 21.7°C against 21.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 6.2°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 17.6°C, 6.8°C above normal, while Kokernag recorded a low of 19.0°C which was 4.1°C for the place, he said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 14.6°C, 3.9°C above normal Kupwara town saw a low of 20.7°C, 5.2°C higher than usual for this time of the season, the official said.
Jammu, which received 0.8mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, recorded a low of 26.1°C , 0.5°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 19.2°C, Batote 19.1°C, Katra 24.2°C while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 18.5°C, the official said.
Light to moderate rain in spells, especially in morning hours at scattered places of J&K, especially in Jammu region, has been forecast during 3-4 days.
