Baramulla, Dec 14 (KNS): The MBBS students of GMC Baramulla have accused the college authorities of discriminative approach and alleged that they are being deliberately failed exams of several subjects.
The aggrieved students while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) alleged that the concerned HODs of several subjects were deliberately failing them in the first year in some supplementary exams.
They alleged the discriminative and deliberate attempt to fail them has led to their mental sickness and even one of the student attempted to end her life.
“Everybody who comes here has cracked NEET. This girl who tried to commit suicide is currently in second year, however, she was failed in first year in Physiology and Anatomy subjects,” said one of the students, requesting not to be named.
She also said that she was failed in her supplementary exams. “She was supposed to sit in her second semester examination but when she came to know she has been failed again, she tried to end her life.”
Meanwhile, Principal GMC Baramulla, Syed Rubya told KNS that nobody came to her to raise the issue.
“They should have given in writing to me, so that I could deliberate upon the same with the concerned HODs,” she said.
She further said some students attempted suicide because of family issues and they are also undergoing psychiatric treatment. “But nobody came to me in this regard. I will take it up on priority basis if they come to me and lodge a written complaint.”
The students also alleged that they were attacked by security guards when they went to lodge the complaint before the college authorities.
However, principal GMC refuted the allegations, and said the students had misbehaved with security guards and she has also asked for CCTV footage to ascertain the facts.
“I will also check their entire performance and review the assessments, the students pursuing MBBS here have to be patient and have to obey the rules and regulations of the college,” she said. (KNS)
